What Moms can learn from Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan?

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan had one of the most hyped up pregnancies in India owning to her stardom as an actress and also as a daughter-in-law of Bachchans. All eyes were on her, as the world waited for the birth of Beti B. We saw Aishwarya handle all the hoopla with grace and dignity. There was a lesson to all of us moms in this... and Aishwarya Bachchan taught us that-

You are a mom first

Aishwarya’s pregnancy weight gain may have raised a few eyebrows and media wrote many unflattering things about her, but she did not allow it to affect her. She hit back strongly, as only a mother would, stating that her angel, Aradhya was her priority. In an interview with Anupama Chopra, she went on to state that, “Weight gain can happen at any point in time and it is something that you are dealing with anyway and it is ok. It is not the outside that defines who you are.” So do not let any nasty comments affect you.

Fat is beautiful

Post pregnancy, a lot of women lounge around in their tracksuits and jammies, not taking care of their hair or skin. But if you look at Ash and her post pregnancy pictures; she looks stunning, impeccably dressed in clothes that suit her present figure and not a hair out of place. It could also be due to her public image but why shouldn’t a mom take care of herself?

Look your best

We all know that for a mother, child’s needs come first. But this is no excuse to dress shabbily. So ladies shake off the dust from your make-up kits and your party shoes.  A dash of kohl to your eyes, gloss on your lips will make you look gorgeous.

Get back on your feet

As her daughter turns One, Aishwarya has started hinting on reading scripts and signing films. You all may take a break during the first few months of becoming a mother but you can join back post the sabbatical. It is imperative in a relationship that a balance is maintained where you can have ‘me’ time as well.

Get back in shape – slow and steady

Slowly and steadily we see the old Aishwarya, whose smiles could bring a million heartbeats to a halt.

So once you are ready, hit the gym and take your exercise routine seriously. Don’t expect to shed ten kilos in a couple of months. Set realistic targets and you will be at peace with yourself.
