Bridal Mehndi Tips

Mehndi or Henna is derived from the sanskrit word 'Mendhika'. In earlier vedic times use of mehndi was symbolic to the inner and outer sun. Use of henna or mehndi has become popular now to decorate your Bride's hands and feet. 

Here are some useful tips for mehndi designs and color:

  • After applying henna, leave it for at least 8 hours. Longer you let the mehndi paste stay on your hands, darker will be shade of mehndi.
  • After drying of mehndi, apply coconut oil or other oil on mehndi design for dark shade.
  • Apply mehndi in different styles on palms, feet, ankles and upper arms. Select one bridal mehndi designs of classical mehndi design, star bridal design, elegant bridal design, and royal bridal designs. Indian mehndi designs are very popular all over the world. Arabic style in mehndi designs is also very famous and liked by brides.
  • After you get dark shade of mehndi on your hands or where you applied mehndi, you can make it more elobrated by using different mehndi accessories that may include glitter, stones that match to color of your dress and stars.   • Once mehndi is applied on the skin, it should be left overnight for at least 5-6 hours to enhance the deepness in color.
  • Lemon Juice & sugar syrup can be applied with cotton wool on to the mehndi once it is dried. This will secure the mehndi onto the skin more and therefore, result in the darkness of the color on the skin.
  • Do not use soap or water on the design for at least 12 hours after application.
  • For the best color, bridal mehndi should be done 2 to 3 days prior to the wedding.
  • One can apply nilgiri drops, Vicks or even katha to enhance the color.
